With sales of 96,383 units (+2.2%), on the home stretch of the year smart is still on course to break the 100,000 unit sales mark also in 2012. In November the city runabout was especially popular with customers in the USA (+70.0%), China (incl. Hong Kong) (+16.7%) and Japan (+137.2%).

There was also another reason for the brand to celebrate in November. At the end of the month smart took the start with the biggest purely electric car2go fleet in Stuttgart. The capital city of Baden-Württemberg is thus the sixteenth city in which the mobility concept car2go is offered.

In addition to being a great tactic to get a little free press, the spare car also makes sense as an alternative to the SLS, which measures more than 15-feet long - almost twice the length of a Fortwo - and has a 563-horsepower engine that sucks down gas at the rate of 13 miles per gallon in city driving (and even that's provided you don't give in to the devil on your shoulder). Being given a slow-selling $12,490 car for the purchase of a model starting at $199,500 represents about a six percent incentive, which is along the lines of a $1,900 rebate for a $30,000 car.

Si hay una ciudad que es coto privado de los utilitarios, esa es Roma. Cualquiera que haya sufrido el tráfico de Roma en sus carnes en más de una ocasión sabe lo que implica intentar conducir por las calles de la capital italiana sin acabar por tener un accidente.

Allí probamos el año pasado el Up! de Volkswagen, si recuerdas, y allí Smart ha decidido realizar un curioso experimento con los chicos de Autoblog Italia. Les han dejado probar el ForStars, grabarlo, fotografiarlo... mientras la filial de Daimler nos hacía un guiño claro con las posibilidades de que este modelo acabe produciéndose más pronto que tarde.

Por ultimo como nota graciosa mientras el iQ es el Toyota menos vendido, el Cygnet es el "Aston Martin" que mas se vende en Espana.
